I am reviewing the Kdrama Gap Dong: Memories of Murder tiday. It has been a while since I did a drama review and even though it finished June 21st I am just now reviewing it. The CastYoon Sang Hyun plays Ha Moo Yeom plays a detective in Iltan Police Department's violent crimes unit. His father died when he was young and since then he has been searching for Gap Dong as a detective. Kim Min Jung plays Dr. Oh Maria, a psychiatrist who is always looking into Gap Dong's case for suspicious reasons. MBLAQ's Lee Joon plays twenty-three year old Ryu Tae Oh. He has an odd obsession with Gap Dong and looks at Gap Dong as a god and a hero for his legendary serial killings. He has an IQ of 150 which means he could figure out Gap Dong's case easily if he didn't have the disposition to be a dangerous psychopath. Kim Ji Won plays Ma Ji Wool is a seventeen year old girl who created The Beast's Path, a webtoon about a serial killer which happens to be Gap Dong. It foretells his murders and eventually leads to helping the police find clues of how to find Gap Dong. Sung Dong Il acts as Yang Cheol Gon, a police officer who was a police inspector during the original Gap Dong murders. He asks to be reassigned to Iltan to end his career by catching Gap Dong. The DramaGap Dong is a drama based off of the Hwaseong Serial Murders in Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province. It's a twenty-eight year old case that started September 15, 1986 and ended April 3, 1991. The statues of limitations ran out on April 2, 2006 now leaving the case unsolved. There is a movie called Memories of Murder, this drama, and the webtoon, Gapdongi. The plot for this drama is really good. It's obviously about the Hwaseong case in Gyeonggi Province but they added people like Ryu Tae Oh, Ma Ji Wool, ect. Characters were dramatized of course and so was the story but it was done amazingly and the whole plot was great too. You never see dramas about psychopaths and serial murders like this one but lately psycho-topics have become more frequent in dramas and I feel like Gap Dong had a part in that because I know two dramas that involve psychopaths. If you're wondering, those dramas are It's Okay, That's Love and one that I've heard of but I'm not sure if it coming out or not, it's called Bad Boy. I was talking to someone about how the case is real and it's based on a true story and she said that they could've come up with Lee Joon's character from the people who are copycats of famous killers and admire killers like Gap Dong. I agree with it a lot because Gap Dong would obviously have those fellow psychopaths that copy him but always get caught in the end. I can't say too much because of spoilers and what I've said is mainly all I can say and facts. My OpinionMy opinion on the drama in total is that it was amazing. It's by far one of the best dramas I have ever watched and it was really well done too. The characters made sense in it because of the true case and everything that was going on was really great. There were times when you got goosebumps from Gap Dong's eerie whistling or when a dead body was found. If you like crime, horror, or killers and detectives then this is the perfect drama for you. Even if you don't like any of that it will still be a drama worth your time and you won't regret watching it, plus who doesn't love Lee Joon? Thank you so much for reading my drama review on Gap Dong: Memories of Murder and I hope you guys check this drama out too. You won't regret it, I promise. I will make another drama review soon but for now, I hope you have enjoyed this and will go watch the drama. Just to let you guys know before I finish, it is kind of hard to find so you can go to Kdrama.com to watch the full drama with English subtitles. Thanks and goodbye!
