Tuesday's MV review is up on Tuesday! Obviously I am reviewing Psy's Hangover video but differently than other mv reviews. I am actually going to explain it some. If you are a big Kpop/Kdrama fan you should know it already but if not, I'll explain what you don't get. The MV starts kind of normal, you know which Psy waking up hungover and drunk. But as you watch the video you start to notice some odd things, I mean not the cartoon looking thing, Yeah, not that but that's strange too. I mean Snoop Dogg patting Psy's back as Psy throws up. In Korea when you or your friend throw up it isn't holding their hair back, it's patting their back. So, I've explained patting someone's back when they puke now I will explain this... Of course after throwing up you gotta brush your teeth but this is a parody of a movie with Cha In Pyo, many Korean comedians and actors make parodies and now so does Psy. The next thing that seems odd to people who aren't kpop fans or who just don't understand it is dropping shots of soju into glasses of beer. This is very popular in South Korea. It helps make the drink stronger so many Koreans take shots of Soju and drop it into a glass of beer. As you can see in the slideshow above Psy and Snoop Dogg are in a convenience store. But looking more closely they have green drinks and Snoop Dogg is holding a Triangle Kimbap. The drinks are hangover drinks, which is why Psy starts drinking one and the Triangle Kimbap is a very common hangover food, which is why there are two other packs in front of Snoop Dogg. Now see this? You may have read about it before or if you watch Korean dramas you have heard of it. They are in a Noraebang which is a karaoke place. There are different kinds of Noraebang like private ones, ones that serve drinks, ect. Next is G-Dragon and CL. They are very big Kpop idols and so is Psy, obviously but G-Dragon, Cl, and Psy all come from the same company, YG Entertainment. G-Dragon is from a kpop group named Big Bang, look them up if you don't know them. But that's who he is. And CL is from a kpop group called 2NE1. Look them up too. You see they're at a pool room? But look closely. I'm not talking about Snoop Dogg's arm, I mean all the pool tables have no holes. Why? Because Korea doesn't have any pool tables with holes. They don't need them because they don't play pool, they play Four Ball. The game is played on a pocketless table with four balls, usually one light red, one dark red, and two whites (or just two reds and two whites). Each player is assigned one of the white balls as his own cue ball. A point is scored when a shooter caroms on any two other balls. Two points are scored when the player caroms on each of the three other balls. You may have been thinking, "Why is Psy eating noodles at a pool room?" but it's actually very common. He is eating a noodle called Jjajangmyeon which is Black Bean noodles. Most people eat them when they go play pool so it's actually not a weird thing to see in this MV. What's this you ask? Disco Pang Pang. It's a South Korean carnival ride that spins in circles, personally I think it looks super fun. You may or may not have noticed these two kinds of alcohol but one is Soju and the other is beer. The beer is called Hite beer and the Soju is Chamisul. Psy sponsors for both of the drinks. This is why the label of the drink was pointed in view of the camera and also why there were so many posters in the background. If you look at all the photos above you can see all the Hite ads in the back and I think that is the reason they chose that place to shoot but Korea could always just have that many Hite and Chamisul ads since YG is a huge company in South Korea and Psy and G-Dragon sponsor it. Well, that's all the things I needed to explain. This review was different, don't you think so? Anyways, thanks for reading and I hope this helped you understand the MV.
